The Meinklang winery is located on the east of Lake Neusiedl, on the edge of the Hungarian lowland plains in what is now part of the national park. The vineyards seem to go on endlessly, blending into the vastness of the Puszta landscape. It is a special matter of concern to respect nature and to grow wines according to biodynamic methods. Respecting the earth as a living organism and the interrelationship of soil, plant and climate responding to the rhythms and activities of the larger cosmos.

Zweigelt and St. Laurent, the typical kind of grapes of the area, predominate and are completed with international ones like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. White wines include mainly indigenous varieties such as Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris. The concept of winemaking reflects Meinklang's land and climate therefore yielding great elegance and fine structure.

2008 MEINKLANG Burgenland. White $12.95

Fresh, crispy and a cocktail of fruity aromas: citrus, apples and grapefruits followed by a light peppery nose. Mineral notes on the palate with lively acid. A blend of indigenous Austrian grape-varieties: 80% Grüner Veltliner, and 20% Muscat give a regional character to the wine. Serve as an aperitif, with salads, seafood and white meats.

2008 MEINKLANG Pinot Gris $16.95

Small berries and a special pruning method give opportunity to create this full-bodied white. Flavors of almonds and nuts are balanced by mineral components which lead to a well balanced full-bodied finish.

2007 MEINKLANG Pinot Noir $16.95

The nose is dominated by ripe fruits up front. Strawberry, cherry and a smell of jam, suggest good physiological ripened grapes. Dark ruby color and multifaceted berried-aromas dominate the typical Pinot Style. A winning partner for dinner.

2007 MEINKLANG Burgenland.Red $12.95

This blend of 65% Zweigelt, 20% Blaufränkisch and 15% St. Laurent shows the very regional character of a Burgenland red wine. Impressive fruity nose, juicy aromas and ripe cherries. Soft tannins and well a rounded finish; Perfect for all occasions — enjoy Burgenland red!

2007 MEINKLANG Frizzante. Blanc de Pinot Noir $16.95

This light sparkling wine gets its beautiful salmon color from a short skin contact. A floral bouquet comes from a cold vinification. It is well rounded with a slightly off dry fruitiness, yet it has a crisp dry finish. Perfect as an appertif.
