2008 DOMAINE DES TERRES DOREES Beaujolais Nouveau $19.95

Brun wants to make a pure Gamay wine. Brun's view is that Beaujolais drinks best at a lower degree of alcohol and that there is no need to add sugar to the must (chaptalize) to reach higher alcohol levels. His Beaujolais is made to be pleasurable — light, fruity and delicious — not an artificially inflated wine that shines at tasting competitions.

For 13 out of 15 years Brun's Nouveau has been voted By The Growers in Beaujolais as "The Best Nouveau of the Vintage"

Robert Parker has rated Brun as a four-star producer (the only other Beaujolais producers with four stars are in the Crus) and has written the following: "Brun is a believer in using only the vineyard's wild yeast, rather than the synthetic yeasts used by most other producers. His beautiful wines are favorites among purists."

2007 Morgon "C?te du Py" $21.95

This is a wine to keep; its character resulting from the soil composition (The cote du Py hillside near the tiny village of Morgon). This is the most typical wine of this appellation, thanks to its rich soil of blue stones coming from the disintegration of schist. The Morgon ? C?te du Py ? is full bodied and tannic. A wine to keep. The long maceration of the whole grape results in a powerful wine which improves over the years, giving a ripe stone-fruit fragrance on the nose like kirsch. Bottled in spring, it is necessary to be patient for it to develop its full potential

2008 Manoir du Carra, Beaujolais Nouveau $16.25

Very aromatic and very consistent in quality for the last 10 years.

Domaine Manoir du Carra is located in the small town of Denice, 5 km from Villefranche-sur-Saone, 45 km south of M?con and 40 km north of Lyon. The property dates back to 1850, and has been bequeathed from father to son for five generations. It is now owned by Jean-No?l Sambardier and his wife. Like many Beaujolais producers, part of their wine is sold to n?gociant, to which they sell at least 25% of their production each year.

2008 Manoir du Carra, Beaujolais Villages Nouveau $16.50

Redolent of strawberries and roses, fragrant and medium bodied. Refreshing, tart finish.

GOLD MEDAL — Troph?e Lyon-Beaujolais Nouveau 2008 (the only official competition devoted to Beaujolais Nouveau)
